    How the gif maker works

Each image you select becomes one frame; gif.js (an open-source encoder that runs via a Web Worker) stitches them into a single looping GIF locally.

    Tips for the GIF maker

The GIF maker turns a sequence of still images into a looping animation: each image you select becomes one frame, in the order you choose, and you set the delay between frames. It works well for simple stop-motion, slideshows, before-and-after comparisons and product turntables.

Frames of similar size give the neatest result, and every extra frame makes the file larger, so use only the images you need. Resize large photos first with the Image Resizer, which also keeps the GIF small. If your source is a video rather than photos, use the Video to GIF Converter instead, or read our guide to making a GIF from a video.

    Frequently asked questions

Do all images need the same size?

They'll be placed at the first image's dimensions — matching sizes look cleanest.

How many frames can I use?

No hard limit, but more frames means a larger file and longer build time.

Can I reorder frames after selecting?

Re-select the files in your intended order to change the sequence.

    Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The GIF is built in your browser by gif.js running in a Web Worker, so your images stay on your device.

Can I make a GIF from a video instead?

Yes. Use the Video to GIF Converter, which samples frames from a short clip for you.
