About BuzzKit

A single toolbox of twenty-eight video, audio, image and PDF tools, built to run entirely on your own device.

Why we built it this way

Most online converters work the same way: you upload a file to a server, wait in a queue, and download the result once it's processed somewhere else. That model is convenient for the operator, but it means your files — photos, video, and documents — pass through infrastructure you have no visibility into.

BuzzKit takes the opposite approach. Every tool on this site runs inside your browser tab using technologies that are already built into modern browsers or available as open-source libraries: the Canvas API for images, WebAssembly builds of ffmpeg for video and audio, and pdf-lib/pdf.js for PDFs. Nothing you drop into a tool here is sent anywhere. There's no server-side queue because there's no server doing the work at all.

What that trade-off means in practice

Running everything client-side has real advantages — privacy, no account requirement, and no dependency on a paid API — but it also has honest limits worth knowing about before you rely on a tool here for something important.

  • Processing power comes from your device. A very large video or a huge batch of images will take as long as your own computer needs to churn through it — there's no server farm accelerating the job.
  • Some techniques are approximations, not AI models. The background remover, for example, uses color-distance masking to separate a subject from a plain backdrop. It's fast and needs no API key, but it isn't a generative AI model, so it won't invent brand-new detail the way a paid AI service might.
  • The first use of a video, audio or PDF tool downloads an engine. For the video and audio tools that is ffmpeg.wasm, roughly 25MB of engine code. The PDF tools fetch pdf-lib, and Compress PDF and PDF to Image also fetch pdf.js. Everything is loaded from a public CDN the first time you use a tool that needs it, then cached by your browser for next time.

The tools

The full set spans four categories: video (convert, compress, trim, merge, rotate, mute, turn clips into GIFs), audio (convert, compress, trim, merge, boost volume), image (convert, compress, resize, crop, rotate, grayscale, adjust filters, pick colors, remove a flat background, build a GIF, generate favicons, export to PDF), and PDF (merge, split, compress, and convert pages to images). Each tool page explains exactly how its technique works and where it performs best, so you're never guessing what's happening to your file.

Who this is for

BuzzKit is aimed at anyone who wants a quick, no-account, no-cost way to handle a common media task — a student converting a clip for a class project, a small shop owner cleaning up product photos, or anyone who'd rather not upload a personal file to an unfamiliar server just to change its format.
