Rotating and flipping photos with the image rotator
Use the image rotator when a photo comes out sideways or upside down, or when you want a mirrored version. Rotate in 90-degree steps, or flip the picture horizontally or vertically.
A horizontal flip creates a mirror image, so avoid it on photos that contain text, because the lettering will read backwards. Need to straighten a video as well? Use the Video Rotator. Afterward, the Image Cropper can trim the edges.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate by a custom angle?
Only 90-degree steps and a 180° option are supported.
Can I combine rotate and flip?
Yes — apply them one after another before downloading.
Will this affect quality?
The download is always a PNG. Rotating and flipping only move pixels, and PNG is lossless, so no quality is lost, but a JPG or WebP input is re-saved as a PNG (the file may be larger than the original, and metadata such as EXIF is not carried over).
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The rotation is done with your browser's canvas, so the image never leaves your device.
How do I mirror an image?
Use the Flip control to mirror it horizontally or vertically. You can combine a flip with rotation before you download.
